Carbon Black Printex-35

Carbon Black Printex-35

PRINTEX® 35 is a regular-color furnace carbon black (LCF / Low Color Furnace) designed by Orion Engineered Carbons for industrial coatings, plastics, and high-performance printing inks. Featuring a medium surface area (~65–110 $\text{m}^2/\text{g}$) and controlled structure, it delivers strong tinting strength, balanced jetness, and excellent dispersion behavior without driving up system viscosity. It is heavily utilized in offset, flexographic, screen, and gravure printing inks, as well as industrial coatings and polymer masterbatches.

PRINTEX® 35 is classified under Pigment Black 7 (C.I. 77266). Produced via the furnace black process, it serves as a versatile specialty carbon black engineered specifically for non-rubber applications where high pigment loadings, good gloss, and stable rheology are necessary.

Because of its balanced surface area and low oil absorption characteristics, PRINTEX® 35 allows formulators to achieve high black pigment loading while maintaining low viscosity and easy processing flow in liquid ink and coating systems.

Key Performance Characteristics

  • High Loading & Low Viscosity: Enables high carbon black concentration in formulations without causing undesirable rheological thickening or high yield stress.

  • High Gloss & Tinting Power: Imparts good surface gloss and high tinting strength in printing inks and industrial finishes.

  • Excellent Dispersibility: Easily wetted out and dispersed using standard high-speed dispersers and mill equipment.

  • Broad Media Compatibility: Performs reliably across solvent-borne, water-borne, and UV-curable binder systems, as well as polyolefin plastics.
