MEK Oxime (Methyl Ethyl Ketone Oxime) is an organic compound widely utilized in the coatings industry as a high-performance anti-skinning agent. It works by forming a volatile complex with the metal driers (such as cobalt or manganese catalysts) present in air-drying formulations. This temporarily blocks the cross-linking reaction with ambient oxygen inside the closed container. Once the coating is applied to a surface, the MEK Oxime rapidly evaporates alongside the primary solvents, releasing the metal driers to allow standard, uniform curing of the resin film throughout its entire depth.
