Indofil ASE-60

Indofil ASE-60

Indofil ASE 60 | High-Efficiency Alkali-Swellable Acrylic Thickener

Indofil ASE 60 is a premium alkali-swellable acrylic copolymer emulsion designed to optimize rheology and pigment suspension in water-based coatings. Functioning at ultra-low concentrations, this milky-white emulsion undergoes instantaneous neutralization and swelling upon the addition of a base, clarifying into a highly viscous solution. Offering superior performance and greater storage stability than conventional cellulosic thickeners like CMC or HEC, Indofil ASE 60 provides rapid viscosity adjustment, excellent anti-settling properties for fillers, and a highly cost-effective addition profile.

Indofil ASE 60 – Alkali-Swellable Polymeric Thickener for Water-Based Coatings

Product Overview

Indofil ASE 60 is an advanced, industrial-grade Alkali-Swellable Emulsion (ASE) rheology modifier engineered for water-borne paint, ink, and coating systems. Manufactured by an ISO 9001 and 14001 certified company, this low-viscosity acidic copolymer emulsion activates instantaneously upon neutralization with a standard base. When diluted with water and raised to an alkaline pH, the individual emulsion particles swell dramatically, clarifying the liquid into a highly structured, high-viscosity network.

Designed as a high-performance alternative to traditional cellulosic thickeners (such as HEC and CMC), Indofil ASE 60 provides paint formulators with rapid processing capabilities, excellent thickening efficiency at low concentrations, and exceptional long-term product stability.

Key Performance Benefits

  • Instantaneous Viscosity Development: Unlike conventional dry cellulosics that require prolonged hydration times, Indofil ASE 60 thins instantly out of the container and builds viscosity immediately upon contact with a base.

  • High Thickening Efficiency: Generates strong low-shear viscosity even at exceptionally low dosages, optimizing formulation costs while achieving the targeted coating body.

  • Superior Pigment & Filler Suspension: The high yield structure developed by the neutralized polymer helps permanently suspend heavy inorganic pigments, mineral extenders, and abrasive particles, preventing hard settling.

  • Enhanced Storage Stability: Improves the shelf-life stability of latex compounds and finished emulsion paints, protecting against syneresis (liquid separation) over time.

Recommended Applications & Dosage

  • Primary Uses: Viscosity modifier and rheology control agent for water-based architectural paints, decorative coatings, inks, and latex compounds.

  • Formulation Flexibility: Ideal for final viscosity adjustments in finished batches or during the thinning stage of production.

  • Recommended Dosage: 0.2% – 1.0% Indofil ASE 60 calculated on the total weight of the paint system. Exact requirements depend on the specific formulation parameters and desired rheological profile.

Processing Notes, Storage & Handling

  • Formulation Precaution: Avoid exposure to soluble iron, copper, or other multivalent cations within the system, as they can cause the polymer solids to precipitate. Protect the product from freezing. If accidental freezing occurs and settling is observed, the polymer can typically be recovered by diluting with water and adding an alkali base.

  • Storage Guidelines: Supplied as a non-flammable, non-combustible emulsion. Must be stored in tightly closed containers under shade. Keep entirely protected from direct sunlight to preserve chemical stability.

  • Shelf Life: 12 months from the date of manufacturing when kept under proper, recommended storage conditions.
